Overview
We are looking for a friendly, reliable, and customer-focused Cashier / Sales Assistant to join our retail team. In this role, you will provide excellent customer service, process transactions efficiently, and support sales through effective merchandising and product recommendations.
This is a paid position offering an excellent opportunity to gain valuable retail experience in a dynamic and supportive environment. Key Responsibilities
- Welcome customers warmly and provide outstanding customer service.
- Process cash, card, and other payment transactions accurately, including refunds and exchanges.
- Maintain clean, organised, and visually appealing merchandise displays.
- Recommend products and promotions to enhance the customer shopping experience and support sales.
- Provide accurate information about products and services and respond to customer enquiries professionally.
- Keep the checkout area clean, organised, and well-stocked throughout each shift.
- Monitor stock levels on the shop floor and report low inventory to management.
- Answer telephone enquiries professionally and courteously.
- Assist with promotional events, seasonal displays, and sales campaigns as required.
- Support the team with general store duties to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
Skills & Requirements
- Friendly, positive, and professional attitude with a strong commitment to customer service.
- Excellent communication skills in English; additional languages (such as Spanish) are an advantage.
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Basic numeracy skills and confidence in handling cash and electronic payments.
- Strong time management skills and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to recommend products and promotions in a helpful, customer-focused manner.
- Good merchandising skills with an eye for attractive product presentation.
- Professional telephone manner and confidence in handling customer enquiries.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Previous retail or customer service experience is beneficial but not essential, as full training can be provided.
