Overview
We are seeking a skilled and reliable HGV Driver (Class 2) specializing in multiple drops to join our logistics team. This role involves operating a commercial vehicle to deliver goods efficiently across designated routes, ensuring timely and safe transportation. The ideal candidate will possess strong driving skills, excellent communication abilities, and a solid understanding of vehicle operation and safety protocols. Duties
- Safely operate a Class 2 HGV vehicle for multiple drop deliveries across various locations.
- Load and unload goods using appropriate equipment such as pallet jacks or forklifts when necessary.
- Plan routes effectively to optimize delivery schedules and ensure punctuality.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, reporting any mechanical issues promptly.
- Maintain accurate delivery documentation and communicate with dispatch regarding delivery status or delays.
- Adhere to all traffic laws, safety regulations, and company policies during operations.
- Assist with warehouse activities including moving goods within the facility as needed.
- Ensure proper handling of freight, including heavy haul, tanker loads, or other specialized cargo as required.
Qualifications
- Valid UK Category C (Class 2) driving license with relevant experience in commercial driving.
- Proven experience in shuttle driving, delivery routes, or route driving involving multiple stops.
- Knowledge of mechanical systems related to commercial vehicles; experience with manual transmission preferred.
- Familiarity with warehouse equipment such as forklift, pallet jack, or yard jockey is advantageous.
- Experience operating various vehicles such as box trucks, flatbeds, dump trucks, or heavy equipment is desirable.
- Strong communication skills for effective coordination with dispatch and clients.
- Ability to load & unload freight safely and efficiently while maintaining safety standards.
- Previous experience in logistics sectors such as freight, heavy haul, military transport, or school bus driving is beneficial.
- Good physical condition to handle moving cargo and perform vehicle inspections regularly. This role requires a dedicated professional committed to safety, efficiency, and excellent customer service in the transportation industry.
