The role focuses on early intervention, family engagement, and supporting learners with SEMH and SEND needs. This role is central to maintaining a strong safeguarding culture where learners are listened to, respected, and actively involved in decisions

Key responsibilities will include:
· Act as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL), leading safeguarding processes across the centre, including managing concerns, referrals, and casework
· Provide a visible pastoral presence across the centre, supporting learners throughout the day and acting as a key point of contact for wellbeing and pastoral concerns
· Lead on SEMH, SEND and wellbeing interventions, including ELSA-based interventions, supporting learners with emotional regulation and resilience
· Build and maintain strong relationships with parents/carers, ensuring effective communication to support learner engagement and wellbeing
· Lead Early Help processes and referrals alongside the SENCO, working with families and external agencies to address barriers to engagement
· Identify early concerns relating to attendance and engagement, working proactively with learners and families to support improvements
· Work in partnership with the Inclusion & Behaviour Officer to support attendance improvement and learner reintegration following absence
· Lead learner voice initiatives, including the student ambassador programme and learner surveys, ensuring learners are involved in decision-making every half term
· Support behaviour through de-escalation and relational approaches, contributing to a consistent and inclusive environment
· Work collaboratively with the SENCo and wider team to support learners with SEND and additional needs
· Maintain accurate safeguarding and pastoral records in line with GDPR and centre expectations.
· Contribute to multidisciplinary meetings, case reviews, and external agency discussions, representing the pastoral perspective
· Support the induction of new learners, ensuring a positive, supported transition into the centre.
· Provide guidance and informal support to staff in relation to safeguarding, wellbeing, and pastoral approaches
· Support and contribute to the centre’s Health and Safety practices, including taking a lead role in the preparation, implementation, and regular review of risk assessments and Personal Emergency Evacuation Plans (PEEPs), ensuring alignment with safeguarding protocols and statutory guidance

Hours: 36.5 hours per week
Salary: £21,937.82 - £23,308.93 per annum (25,956.00 - £27,578.25 Full Time Equivalent)
This is a Term Time Only position working 39 weeks per year.
