Full job description

Job Summary
We are seeking an organised, proactive and solutions focused Transport Coordinator to join our busy operations team. The successful candidate will plan and coordinate load movements, liaising with drivers, customers and internal departments to ensure all operations are completed safely, compliantly and on schedule. This is a key role in a fast paced environment that requires strong planning ability, attention to detail and the confidence to make decisions under pressure.

Key Responsibilities

Accept transport requests and update Transport Management System
Coordinate drivers, vehicles and routes to maximise efficiency and control costs
Maintain consistent communication with drivers and monitor live tracking software responding proactively to any delays or issues. Liaise with customers and delivery depots to update.
Source backloads to reduce empty running and enhance efficiency
Schedule regular vehicle maintenance into daily transport plan
Maintain accurate up-to-date records using transport systems and software
Ensure full compliance with UK transport legislation and safety standards
Requirements
Previous experience in transport administration / planning / coordination
Team player with strong and effective communication skills at all levels
Excellent organisational and time management skills
Computer literate with the ability to pick up new systems
Ability to work calmly and effectively in a fast-paced, high pressure environment
Have a passion for the role, working on your own initiative and seeing tasks through to completion
Suggests improvements to enhance the daily planning process
Organised with attention to detail, capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously under tight deadlines. This role is vital for ensuring the efficiency of our transportation operations through meticulous planning and effective communication.

Pay: £30,000.00-£35,000.00 per year
