Contract: Part‑time (27hrs per week) – 8am – 5.30pm over 3 days.
Salary: £32,073 - £39,043 per annum pro rata - depending on experience
Sussex Community Dermatology Service (SCDS) – Overview
Sussex Community Dermatology Service (SCDS) is a community‑based dermatology network that delivers specialist skin care across Coastal West Sussex, Surrey, Mid Sussex, West Kent and Berkshire. SCDS Provide timely, high‑quality dermatology care that reduces unnecessary referrals to secondary care and improves patient experience through a “see‑and‑treat” approach. SCDS Key services include Minor skin surgery (excision, biopsy, shave, punch), Patch testing for allergies, Photodynamic therapy (PDT), Phototherapy (UV‑B/PUVA), Day‑case procedures, Dermatological assessment clinics, Skin‑cancer screening and early‑intervention programs.
About the Role We are looking for an enthusiastic, committed nurse to join our busy, community‑based dermatology team in the Slough area. You will provide hands‑on clinical care in a fast‑paced “see and treat” environment, supporting consultant dermatologists, GP‑wSIs, and the wider multidisciplinary team. The role is ideal for a nurse who enjoys direct patient contact and wants to develop advanced dermatology skills without taking on managerial responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
o Deliver safe, evidence‑based dermatology care, including assisting in minor surgery, patch testing, photodynamic therapy, and routine clinic assessments.
o Assist with pre‑ and post‑procedure care, wound dressing, and patient education.
o Maintain meticulous patient records in the electronic health record system.
o Support infection prevention and control protocols and ensure a sterile working environment.
o Participate in quality improvement projects and clinical governance activities.
o Work collaboratively with consultants, GP‑wSIs, nurses, healthcare assistants and other allied health professionals.
o Provide expert advice to patients on self‑care and post‑procedure management via telephone or in‑person.
o Attend team meetings, case discussions and training sessions.
What We’re Looking For
o Registered Nurse with current NMC registration.
o Nursing experience – preferably in dermatology or a related clinical area.
o Strong interpersonal skills and a patient‑centred approach.
o Competency in wound care and basic dermatology procedures.
o Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
o Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
o Proficiency with electronic patient records and basic IT skills.
