We Care is seeking passionate Trustees and Board Members to help us launch a vital affordable housing initiative.
We are a charity transitioning into a registered provider of social and affordable housing. To achieve this, we are building a dedicated governing board to lead our registration application and strategic setup. This is a unique opportunity to shape a housing provider from the ground up and directly combat the housing crisis.
About the Role
- Position: Voluntary Trustee / Board Member (transitioning to a paid role once funding/revenue is secured).
- Location: Remote (applications welcome from London, Luton, and nationwide).
- Commitment: Monthly virtual board meetings, plus occasional committee work and application reviews.
Key Responsibilities
- Registration Leadership: Guide the charity through the formal application process to become a registered housing supplier with the commissioning agency.
- Strategic Planning: Help draft, refine, and approve critical registration documents, including business plans and risk frameworks.
- Financial Oversight: Assist with financial modeling, rent costings, development budgets, and long-term sustainability plans.
- Governance & Compliance: Establish robust housing management policies, regulatory frameworks, and implementation strategies.
What We Are Looking ForWe need individuals with proven professional experience in the social housing sector. We are looking for expertise in at least one of the following areas:
- Registration Success: Prior experience successfully registering a new provider with the Regulator of Social Housing or relevant commissioning bodies.
- Housing Sector Expertise: A strong background in housing association management, local authority housing, or residential property development.
- Business & Finance: Experience in financial planning, drafting business plans, cost modeling, and fundraising within a housing context.
- Policy & Operations: Deep knowledge of housing compliance, tenant welfare policies, and scaling up operational implementation.
