R&D Test & Electronics Design Engineer

About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a fast-growing and leading provider of Fire Detection Control Systems and related equipment. We are seeking a motivated and technically minded R&D Test & Electronics Design Engineer to join our experienced engineering team.
This role is ideal for someone with a strong interest in electronics products, and testing. The successful candidate will support the design, Technical support, testing, and continuous improvement of fire alarm control systems and associated electronic products.
You will work within a dynamic R&D environment with excellent opportunities for technical development and career progression. Full training will be provided where required.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out testing, validation, and fault-finding for R&D projects
- Review electronic circuit designs and assist with design improvements
- Read, analyse, and interpret circuit schematics and technical drawings
- Maintain and update product documentation in compliance with ISO 9001 requirements
- Assist with maintenance and improvement of production test jigs and testing equipment
- Provide technical support to customers when required
- Work closely with production and engineering teams to resolve technical issues
- Carry out any additional duties as requested by the General Manager/ R&D manager
Skills & Experience Required
- At least 3 years of experience
- Good understanding of analogue and digital electronic circuit design
- Ability to read and understand electronic schematics and PCB layouts
- Knowledge of electronic components, testing methods, and fault diagnosis
- Experience with circuit design review and product testing
- Good problem-solving and analytical skills
- Competent in Microsoft Word, Excel, and standard computer software
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
- Good communication and organisational skills
- Experience within fire detection systems or safety electronics would be advantageous but not essential
Desirable Skills
- Knowledge of microcontroller-based systems and electronics
- Experience using electronic test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and signal generators
- Exposure to embedded systems or firmware testing
- Awareness of ISO 9001 quality processes
