Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Inclusion and SEN (Special Educational Needs) Manager to lead our inclusive education initiatives. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in fostering an environment where all learners, regardless of their individual needs, can thrive. The Inclusion and SEN Manager will work closely with staff, students, and external agencies to develop and implement effective strategies that promote equality and inclusion across all levels.
To jointly lead and manage the preschool alongside the Curriculum and Safeguarding Manager, ensuring all children receive appropriate support to access the curriculum and achieve their full potential. The Inclusion and SEN Manager will act as the setting SENCo and Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL), leading SEND provision, referrals, interventions and partnership working with families and professionals.
The post holder will spend three days each week working directly within the room supporting children and staff, and two days each week undertaking management and SEND leadership responsibilities.
Duties
- Lead the development and implementation of inclusive education policies and practices across the organisation.
- Oversee the identification and assessment of students with SEN, ensuring appropriate support is provided.
- Collaborate with teaching staff to adapt curriculum delivery to meet diverse learning needs.
- Organise training sessions for staff on inclusive teaching strategies and SEN best practices.
- Liaise with external specialists, therapists, and agencies to coordinate support services for students with additional needs.
- Monitor the progress of students with SEN, adjusting support strategies as necessary to ensure positive outcomes.
- Promote awareness and understanding of inclusion within the organisation through workshops, seminars, and campaigns.
- Maintain accurate records related to SEN provision and ensure compliance with relevant legislation and policies.
- Support the recruitment and training of staff specialising in inclusion and SEN support roles.
- Foster a culture of empathy, respect, and understanding among staff, students, and parents.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in an educational setting specialising in inclusion or SEN management.
- Teaching qualification or background is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of current legislation relating to SEN and inclusive education practices.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Exceptional communication skills, capable of engaging with a diverse range of stakeholders including staff, parents, and external agencies.
- Demonstrated ability to lead training sessions and promote professional development among colleagues.
