As Business Analyst, you'll play a central role in helping Care Dorset understand and improve how it operates. Working closely with operational, finance, and quality teams across our residential, day, reablement, and supported living services, you'll turn data and process insight into practical recommendations that improve outcomes for the people we support and the staff who support them.
This is a varied role suited to someone who enjoys getting close to real operational challenges — from rostering and occupancy across our services, to reporting for Dorset Council, to supporting the digital transformation of how we capture and use care data. You'll work across a relatively small, close-knit organisation, so your work will have direct, visible impact.
What you'll be doing
- Gather, document, and analyse business requirements from operational teams across Care Dorset's residential, reablement, supported living, and day opportunity services.
- Map current processes and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, quality, and consistency across services.
- Build and maintain reports and dashboards that give managers and the Senior Leadership Team clear, reliable insight into performance, occupancy, staffing, and quality measures.
- Support business cases and project proposals, including cost-benefit analysis, for service changes or new ways of working.
- Work with finance and operational colleagues to support budgeting, forecasting, and performance reporting to Dorset Council.
- Act as a key link between operational services and IT/digital colleagues when scoping system changes, new tools, or process automation.
- Support the rollout of new systems or ways of working, including training materials, user testing, and post-implementation review.
- Ensure all analysis and reporting handles personal and care-related data appropriately and in line with data protection requirements.

Care Dorset is a local authority trading company, wholly owned by Dorset Council, delivering adult social care across the county. We provide a full spectrum of services — residential and respite care, reablement, supported living, and day opportunities — across 23 services, in partnership with the families and communities we serve.
Because Care Dorset is publicly owned, every penny of profit is reinvested into the services we provide rather than paid out to shareholders. Our vision is simple: a world where people can thrive. We're proud that around half of our carers have been with us for five years or more, and over a quarter for ten years or longer — a reflection of the culture we've built and the values that guide everything we do.
