Full job description

Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and reliable Night Care Assistant to provide overnight support within a care home environment. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring the safety, comfort, and well-being of residents during the night hours. This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals requiring care and support. The role requires excellent communication skills, organisational ability, and a caring attitude to deliver high-quality home care services.

Duties

Monitor residents throughout the night to ensure their safety and well-being
Respond promptly to residents’ needs or emergencies, providing assistance as required
Assist with personal care tasks such as toileting, mobility support, and medication reminders in accordance with care plans
Maintain accurate records of residents’ conditions and any incidents during the shift
Support residents in maintaining their comfort by adjusting bedding, temperature, and lighting as needed
Liaise with day staff regarding residents’ overnight status and any relevant updates
Ensure the environment remains clean, safe, and secure throughout the night shift
Follow all health and safety protocols diligently to minimise risks within the care home setting

Experience

Previous experience working in a care home or providing home care is desirable but not essential; training will be provided for suitable candidates
Driving licence is advantageous for those who may need to assist with community outings or errands outside of standard duties
Familiarity with care plans and basic IT skills for record keeping is beneficial
Good command of English language skills for effective communication with residents, colleagues, and family members
Strong communication skills are essential for understanding residents' needs and working collaboratively within a team
