Part-Time Warehouse Picker and Packer
Location: Bamber Bridge, Preston, PR5 6SW – near Matalan
Pay: £12.71 per hour (National Living Wage)
Regular hours: 24 hours per week
Working days: Monday to Wednesday, 9:00am–5:30pm, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break
Contract: Initial six-month fixed-term contract, with the possibility of permanent employment following a successful review
Working Hours
Your regular working hours will be Monday to Wednesday, from 9:00am until 5:30pm, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break.
You will also be expected to remain available to work one Sunday per month, from 10:30am until 3:00pm, if required. Sunday shifts will normally be arranged in advance once your training has been completed.
Sunday work will depend on business requirements and is not guaranteed. During quieter periods, no Sunday shift may be scheduled. During exceptionally busy periods, you may be asked whether you are available to work additional Sunday shifts. Any Sundays beyond the usual one per month will be optional.
All Sunday hours worked will be paid in addition to your regular contracted hours.

Key Responsibilities
- Accurately picking and packing customer orders for dispatch
- Checking products and quantities to ensure orders are correct
- Receiving and checking incoming deliveries
- Placing stock into the correct warehouse locations
- Helping to maintain accurate and organised stock locations
- Keeping the warehouse clean, safe and tidy
- Following warehouse procedures and health and safety requirements
- Assisting with other general warehouse duties when required
What We’re Looking For
Previous warehouse experience would be helpful but is not essential, as full training will be provided.
We are looking for someone who:
- Is reliable, punctual and hardworking
- Has good attention to detail
- Can work efficiently and with a sense of urgency during busy periods
- Works well independently and as part of a team
- Has a positive and helpful attitude
- Is willing to learn and follow instructions
- Is comfortable carrying out physical warehouse work, including standing, walking, bending and lifting throughout the shift
- Can reliably commute to our Bamber Bridge warehouse
- Can normally remain available for one Sunday shift per month, when required
Contract and Permanent Role Review
This position is initially offered on a six-month fixed-term contract.
The six-month period will also act as a probationary assessment period, during which your attendance, punctuality, reliability, conduct and overall performance will be reviewed.
A formal review will take place towards the end of the six-month term to consider whether a permanent contract can be offered.
Any offer of permanent employment will depend on satisfactory performance and the ongoing requirements of the business. A permanent position is therefore not guaranteed.
