Cornish Concrete Products is looking for an experienced and motivated Production Foreman to manage and lead operations within our precast concrete factory.
This role would suit someone with strong experience in precast concrete, construction products manufacturing, or a construction background with proven concrete and carpentry/formwork expertise.
This is a hands-on leadership role suited to a practical, safety-focused individual with excellent organisational skills and the ability to lead, motivate and support a production team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day factory operations, ensuring production targets are met safely, on schedule, to the required quality standards and with good control of materials, labour and equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage, lead, motivate and develop the precast factory production team.
- Plan and organise daily and weekly production activities in line with the production schedule.
- Monitor progress against production targets and provide regular updates to senior management
- Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, to specification and to the required quality standards.
- Supervise the manufacture of precast concrete products, including mould preparation, reinforcement placement, casting, curing, demoulding and finishing.
- Oversee carpentry and formwork activities, ensuring moulds, shutters and formwork are accurate, robust and fit for purpose.
- Monitor the use of raw materials, consumables and equipment to minimise waste and support cost control
- Identify quality issues early and ensure corrective actions are taken before products leave the factory.
- Support the training, supervision and performance management of factory operatives
- Promote good housekeeping, safe working practices and a strong safety culture across the factory.
- Work closely with management, technical, engineering and maintenance teams to maintain smooth production flow and resolve issues quickly.
- Lead practical problem-solving and support continuous improvement across the factory, including Lean/5S principles where applicable.
- Conduct regular team briefings and toolbox talks.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, quality systems and relevant industry standards.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a precast concrete factory or similar construction products manufacturing environment is strongly preferred.
- Candidates from a construction background with strong hands-on concrete and formwork experience will also be considered.
- Proven carpentry/formwork skills are essential.
- Experience leading or supervising a production team.
- Strong practical knowledge of concrete production, including placing, compaction, finishing and curing processes.
- Good understanding of health and safety requirements within a factory or construction environment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications and production schedules.
- Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Office, with the ability to assist with production reporting and basic tracking.
- Strong organisational, communication and interpersonal skills.
- A hands-on, practical approach with the ability to lead by example.
- Forklift, overhead crane or lifting equipment competency would be advantageous.
