Job Title: Cognos Developer

Job Location: London, UK,

Job Type: FTE

Cognos Developer is responsible for design, implementation, and maintenance of the Banks analytic tools.

The role includes leading all aspects of the enhancement, maintenance and support which are based on enterprise development platforms and related frameworks, often involving collaboration with internal application owners and other members of staff to deliver changes using Agile principles, supporting complex and dynamic business requirements. The role involves applying both business and technical expertise to deliver data solutions for SWIFT applications.

The individual will be expected to adhere to the core principles of the IT department, these include but are not limited to - putting our users first; delivering technology that is useful, elegant and reliable; knowledgeable and engaging about both technology and our business; effective in both provision and execution; innovative and inquisitive.

Background

The role combines deep technical expertise with knowledge of SWIFT to deliver reporting solutions and provide technical support to users. It includes serving as the subject matter expert on SWIFT reports, collaborating closely with internal stakeholders and technical teams.

Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Qualifications

Possesses strong investigative and analytical qualities

Excellent communicator in English - both written and verbal.

A team player with a positive and constructive attitude towards work and colleagues.

A diligent approach to completing work on time and to an agreed, acceptable level of quality

Educated to degree level or equivalent industry experience and it is desirable to have has an appropriate certification relating to the technical specialism that the role requires.

Accountabilities & Responsibilities

Cognos expert responsible for design and development of SWIFT reports.

Deliver working software in line with agreed quality and risk standards

Participate in a cross functional teamwork, following Agile principles with responsibility for the end-to-end process, delivering within expected time and quality.

To follow standard development working practices e.g. o Participate in all the daily and weekly ceremonies in your team

o Work with users from business teams and Project Manager to understand the requirements and develop appropriately innovative and practical solutions.

o Work closely with Architects, ETL developers, QA and other developers to estimate, plan and build data solutions.

o To liaise with members of the Infrastructure and Operations team, as necessary to ensure consistent implementation of features into a test and production environment, either via associated DevOps tooling, or manually as appropriate.

Technical skills

IBM Cognos 10+, Oracle 11g, Star schema design (Kimball methodology).

Experience of Oracle PL/SQL.

Good understanding of Kimball methodology / star schema design.

Experience in finance services data solutions.

Desirable experience: Swift, ISO20022, XML
