Job Summary
To provide practical maintenance support across the site by carrying out routine maintenance tasks, preventative maintenance activities, inspections and basic repairs. The role is responsible for assisting the engineering team by completing lower-risk maintenance work and ensuring maintenance records, documentation and housekeeping standards are maintained.
This role is ideal for someone who has recently completed an engineering apprenticeship or is looking to develop a career within maintenance and engineering.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Preventative Maintenance (PPM)
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance activities in accordance with maintenance schedules.
- Complete routine equipment inspections and identify any defects or concerns.
- Assist with lubrication, tightening, adjustment and replacement of basic components.
- Ensure all maintenance tasks are completed safely and recorded accurately.
Maintenance Support
- Support engineers with day-to-day maintenance activities across the site.
- Carry out basic mechanical maintenance tasks under guidance where required.
- Tighten bolts, replace guards, change simple components and complete minor repairs.
- Assist with equipment strip-downs and rebuilds.
- Support machine changeovers and production improvements as required.
Maintenance Administration
- Complete maintenance records, check sheets and PPM documentation.
- Update maintenance systems with completed work and inspection findings.
- Maintain accurate records of spare parts usage and stock levels.
- Assist with filing, organising and maintaining engineering documentation.
Site Facilities & Housekeeping
- Carry out routine building and facilities maintenance tasks.
- Assist with maintaining good housekeeping standards within workshops, plant rooms and production areas.
- Support contractors working on site and ensure work areas remain safe and tidy.
- Report any safety concerns, equipment defects or maintenance issues promptly.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability and maintenance processes.
- Support engineering improvement projects where appropriate.
- Participate in training and development activities to build engineering knowledge and skills.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Work in accordance with company Health & Safety policies and procedures.
- Follow risk assessments, safe systems of work and permit requirements where applicable.
- Ensure all work is completed safely and to the required standard.
- Wear appropriate PPE at all times.
General
- Undertake any other reasonable duties as requested by management.
- Support the engineering team during periods of high workload, shutdowns and planned maintenance activities.

Limits of Authority
- Authority is limited to routine maintenance activities and tasks deemed appropriate to the individual's level of training and competence.
- Complex electrical, mechanical or control system work must be referred to a qualified engineer.
Skills and Experience Required
- Engineering apprenticeship completed or working towards a recognised engineering qualification.
- Basic understanding of mechanical maintenance principles.
- Good practical problem-solving skills.
- Ability to use hand tools safely and effectively.
- Good attention to detail and record keeping.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
Desirable (but not required)
- Previous experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Basic mechanical maintenance experience.
- Experience completing preventative maintenance tasks.
- Familiarity with maintenance management systems (CMMS).
- FLT licence, MEWP licence or other engineering-related qualifications.

Position Type / Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position.
Hours are Monday to Friday, in line with the company's operational requirements.
Pay: £26,436.80-£29,000.00 per year
