About the Role
Bartlett Contractors Ltd is seeking a motivated and flexible Ground Worker / Plant Operator to join our growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced and multi-skilled individual who enjoys a varied role, combining plant operation with hands-on groundwork activities.
The successful candidate will be capable of operating excavators ranging from 14-tonne down to 1.5-tonne machines and will have a strong background in general civil engineering and groundwork projects. We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, demonstrates a positive attitude, and is committed to delivering high-quality results safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate tracked excavators from 14T to 1.5T safely and efficiently.
- Carry out a wide range of groundwork activities including:
- Concrete works and finishing.
- Drainage installation.
- Ducting installation.
- Hard landscaping works.
- Kerbing and edging.
- Paving and surfacing works.
- Assist with site set-up and general construction activities.
- Work effectively as part of a team whilst also being capable of working independently.
- Follow all health, safety and environmental procedures.
- Maintain plant and equipment in a clean and serviceable condition.
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience in both plant operation and groundwork activities.
- Competent operating excavators from 14T to 1.5T.
- Valid UK Driving Licence.
- Valid CPCS or NPORS card with CSCS logo.
- Experience in drainage, ducting, concrete works and hard landscaping.
- Good communication skills and a positive, can-do attitude.
- Strong awareness of health and safety requirements on construction sites.
Desirable Qualifications
The following are advantageous but not essential:
- First Aid at Work qualification.
- Confined Space certification.
- SSSTS (Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme).
- Dumper ticket.
- Roller ticket.
