About Trackway Solutions (Part of Generator Power)
Trackway Solutions specialises in temporary access, trackway hire, ground protection, temporary roadways, walkways and car park solutions. Our work helps clients operate safely and efficiently where permanent access is unavailable, where ground conditions are poor, or where surfaces need to be protected. Trackway is commonly used to provide safe access for vehicles and pedestrians, prevent sites from becoming unsafe or waterlogged, and protect environmentally sensitive or high-value ground. We are looking for a capable and reliable Lead Trackway Operative to manage a small team working on medium duty plastic trackway mat installations in Stevenage and surrounding areas.
Role Overview
As Lead Trackway Operative, you will take responsibility for leading site-based trackway works, including delivery, installation, loading, unloading, positioning and removal of medium duty plastic trackway mats. You will supervise labourers and operatives on site, ensure work is completed safely and efficiently, and act as a key point of contact between the site team, management and clients where required. This is a hands-on leadership role. You will still be expected to lift, move and install trackway mats alongside the team, while also ensuring standards, safety and productivity are maintained.
Key Responsibilities
You will be responsible for:
- Leading a small team during trackway installation, movement and removal works.
- Supervising the loading and unloading of medium duty plastic trackway mats.
- Planning and coordinating the safe movement of mats around site.
- Ensuring trackway is installed correctly according to site layout, access requirements and safety standards.
- Delivering temporary roadways, pedestrian walkways, ground protection areas, vehicle access routes and temporary working platforms.
- Carrying out basic site checks before work begins.
- Reading and following instructions, site plans or job sheets where provided.
- Liaising with clients, site contacts, supervisors or project managers in a professional manner.
- Ensuring all team members follow safe manual handling practices.
- Monitoring the condition of mats and reporting damage, defects or shortages.
- Keeping work areas tidy, organised and safe.
- Supporting loading, stacking, cleaning and securing trackway equipment.
- Ensuring vehicles are loaded safely and efficiently.
- Promoting good health and safety practice on every job.
- Completing basic paperwork, delivery notes, site records or check sheets where required.
- Helping train new labourers or less experienced team members.
- Managing time effectively to complete work to schedule.
- Representing Trackway Solutions professionally on all sites.
About You
The ideal candidate will be:
- Experienced in outdoor site work, labouring, groundworks, construction, events, logistics or temporary access installation.
- Confident leading a small team.
- Physically fit and willing to carry out manual work.
- Practical, organised and calm under pressure.
- Safety-focused and able to spot risks on site.
- Comfortable communicating with clients, managers and operatives.
- Reliable, punctual and professional.
- Able to work in changing weather and site conditions.
- Flexible with working hours depending on project needs.
Proud of completing work to a high standard.
