Site hours: Monday to Friday 8:00am – 4:30pm
We are looking for reliable and motivated Operatives to join St Astier, a leading specialist contractor in the North East. Working as part of a team, you will deliver high-quality construction and repair works across a range of projects including heritage masonry, lime plastering, concrete repairs, and structural repairs including piling and ground anchors.

Job Objective:
The overall objective of the role is to carry out quality work on site as part of a team and contribute towards the completion of contracts in an efficient, co-operative and constructive manner.
What you will be doing:
- Carry out site tasks in line with project specifications and foreman/supervisor instructions
- Work collaboratively with Site Supervisors, Foremen, and team members
- Deliver high-quality workmanship while meeting programme deadlines
- Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organised work environment
- Identify and report any issues, delays, defects, or safety concerns promptly
- Use tools, plant, and materials correctly and take responsibility for their care
- Follow all Health & Safety procedures and contribute to a safe working culture
- Represent the company professionally when working on client sites
Essential Requirements:
- Proven experience across multiple construction trades, particularly wet trades (e.g. bricklaying, blockwork, plastering, rendering, concreting)
- Transferable practical skills relevant to construction or site-based work
- Physically fit and able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Strong work ethic and ability to meet deadlines under pressure
- Willingness to work away from home and stay overnight when required
- Good awareness of Health & Safety, with the confidence to identify and report risks
- Flexible with working hours, including overtime and weekends
- Professional, reliable, and team-focused attitude
- Willingness to learn new skills and develop within the role
- Proven high quality work with meticulous attention to detail
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable Requirements:
- CSCS Card (or willingness to obtain)
- Experience in construction or site-based work (2+ years preferred)
- Experience using plant, tools, and machinery
- Interest in structural repairs, concrete repairs, or heritage works
- Trailer towing experience
