PLEASE READ FULL ADVERT BEFORE APPLYING
Location: Hemel Hempstead
Company: Alloy Fix Ltd
Job Type: Full-time
Alloy Fix Ltd is looking for a hands-on workshop technician to join our Hemel Hempstead branch.
This role is focused on alloy wheel crack repairs, buckle straightening, grinding, preparation work and general wheel repair. The work is specialist, repetitive and process-driven, and full training will be provided on our equipment, repair methods and quality standards.
This is not a role for someone with no workshop experience. We are looking for someone who already has a practical background working with tools, metal, welding, fabrication, repairs, mechanical work, bodyshop repairs or similar hands-on workshop work.
Welding is involved in this role, but you do not need to be a fully qualified or highly experienced welder. You must, however, have some relevant hands-on experience and be confident working in a workshop environment. Candidates with aluminium TIG welding experience will be prioritised, but this is not essential for the right person.
This position would be a good match for someone who has worked as a:
- Metal Fabricator
- Fabricator/Welder
- Workshop Fabricator
- General Metalworker
- Sheet Metal Worker
- Bodyshop Technician
- Panel Beater
- Mechanical Technician
- Alloy Wheel Technician
- Engineering Workshop Assistant
- Vehicle Repair Technician
- Similar hands-on workshop, metalwork, fabrication, welding, bodyshop, mechanical or repair roles
The ideal candidate will already be comfortable using tools, grinders, heat, metal and workshop equipment. You do not need to have alloy wheel repair experience, as full training will be provided, but you must come from a practical background and have the ability to pick up a specialist repair process.
The role will include:
- Straightening buckled alloy wheels using specialist equipment
- Repairing cracked alloy wheels
- Grinding, cleaning and preparing repair areas
- Inspecting wheels before and after repair
- Following Alloy Fix repair procedures and quality standards
- Working safely with tools, heat and workshop equipment
- Keeping your work area clean, organised and efficient
- Producing consistent repair work to a high standard
The ideal candidate must have:
- Previous experience in a hands-on workshop environment
- Some experience with welding, metalwork, fabrication, mechanical repairs, bodyshop repairs or similar
- Confidence using tools, grinders and workshop equipment
- Good attention to detail
- A practical approach to problem solving
- The ability to follow a set repair process
- A reliable and positive attitude
- A willingness to learn and improve
- Pride in the quality of their work
Useful but not essential:
- Aluminium TIG welding experience
- MIG or TIG welding experience
- Alloy wheel repair experience
- Buckle straightening experience
- Fabrication or engineering experience
- Bodyshop or accident repair experience
What we offer:
- Full training on alloy wheel welding and straightening
- Training on our equipment, repair methods and standards
- A stable full-time role
- The chance to learn a specialist trade
- A busy workshop environment
- Long-term opportunity within a growing company
- Support from an experienced team
This is a great opportunity for someone from a welding, metalwork, fabrication, bodyshop, mechanical or general workshop background who wants to develop into a specialist alloy wheel repair technician.
Please note: this is not a general labourer or complete beginner position. Applicants must have previous hands-on workshop, metalwork, welding, fabrication, mechanical, bodyshop or repair experience.
To apply, please send your CV and include a short message about your previous workshop, welding, metalwork, fabrication, mechanical, bodyshop or repair experience.
