The Opportunity
We are looking for a proactive Sustainability & Environmental Advisor to join our growing Environmental & Sustainability team in East Anglia. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in driving environmental best practice, supporting sustainability initiatives across major projects, and contributing to the organisation’s wider environmental goals within a dynamic and forward-thinking environment.
As an Environmental Advisor, you will:
- Support the delivery of sustainability and environmental action plans across the framework
- Provide expert environmental advice and support to internal stakeholders, promoting best practice and regulatory compliance
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate environmental and sustainability considerations into operations and decision-making
- Conduct environmental audits, assessments, and inspections to identify opportunities for improvement and ensure compliance with company procedures and environmental legislation
- Assist in the investigation of environmental incidents, ensuring lessons learned are communicated and preventative actions implemented
- Analyse environmental performance data, identify trends and opportunities for improvement, and prepare reports for management review
- Liaise with regulatory agencies, external consultants, clients, and third-party organisations regarding environmental permitting, reporting, and compliance
- Deliver engaging environmental training sessions and awareness campaigns to promote a culture of sustainability
- Assess sustainability risks and opportunities and support the development of environmental management plans for new projects and developments
- Stay informed on emerging environmental trends, technologies, and legislation, assessing potential impacts on company operations
- Support the development and implementation of sustainability goals, targets, and initiatives
Essential
- Proven experience within environmental management, sustainability, or a related field, ideally within the construction or utilities sector
- Strong understanding of environmental legislation, regulations, and industry best practice
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail
- Ability to collect, analyse, and interpret environmental data effectively
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels
- Self-motivated and proactive, capable of working independently and collaboratively within a team
- Willingness and flexibility to travel to company sites and project locations as required
- Genuine commitment to environmental sustainability and corporate social responsibility
Desirable
- Relevant professional memberships or certifications such as IEMA, IEEM, IWEM or equivalent
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline
- Experience using environmental management software and reporting tools
