Location: Care Fertility Cardiff, Meadows, Rhodfa Marics, Pontyclun, CF72 8XL
Hours: Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week, between 8am - 4pm (with some weekend and bank holiday work on a rota basis).
Salary: £25,285 - £27,325 per annum FTE (Depending on experience)
We’re delighted to share an exciting opportunity for a motivated and detail-oriented team member to join as a Laboratory Practitioner on a permanent basis within our Embryology team at Care Fertility Cardiff.

You’ll be part of a collaborative and supportive team, working at the heart of our laboratory services.
This is a full-time position (37.5 hours per week), with participation in weekend and rota-based activities as required by the service.

About the Role
As a Laboratory Practitioner, you will support Clinical Scientists with a wide range of routine clinical and laboratory activities, including:
Diagnostic semen analysis in line with relevant standards
Sperm preparation, freezing and thawing procedures
Supporting oocyte collection, embryo transfer and surgical sperm retrieval procedures
Preparing laboratory equipment, gradients and culture dishes
Maintaining accurate records, including treatment documentation and cryostorage data
Assisting with equipment monitoring, stock control and laboratory audits
Supporting compliance with regulatory requirements and internal quality standards
You’ll also:
Work with clinical databases and digital systems to ensure accurate data entry and tracking
Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams and other Care units
Contribute to maintaining a safe, clean and compliant laboratory environment
Support continuous improvement and quality assurance activities
About You
We’re looking for someone who is:
Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
Confident working with data, systems and administrative processes
Experienced in an administrative or clinical support role (essential)
Comfortable working in a regulated environment with strict procedures
A strong communicator who works well as part of a team
Passionate about patient care and supporting clinical excellence
Essential requirements:
GCSEs (or equivalent), including English and Maths
Strong IT skills (Microsoft Office and databases)
Experience in data entry, database management, or administrative work
Desirable:
Experience in a healthcare or laboratory environment
Knowledge of patient records or quality/audit processes
