Esprit Performing Arts runs for 50 weeks of the year, so this role can offer consistent weekly work, with additional paid hours available during holiday camps, rehearsals and production periods.
About Esprit Performing Arts
Esprit Performing Arts is a musical theatre school in Swindon run by working West End and TV actors. We teach singing, dance and acting with real industry know-how, focusing on confidence, teamwork, discipline and performance skills.
Our classes are for children aged 3+, and we regularly work towards shows and performance opportunities. We are a friendly, high-standard school with a strong focus on both excellent teaching and child-centred care.
The Role
We are looking for a confident, experienced and reliable Lead Musical Theatre Teacher to join our team.
This is a key teaching role, so we are looking for someone who is comfortable leading classes independently across acting, singing and dance, while also setting the right tone for the students and representing the school professionally.
The right person will be warm, engaging and fun, but will also have strong classroom presence, good judgement and the ability to lead children with clear boundaries and positive authority.
You will be working with a range of ages, including younger children, and supporting our wider show work, rehearsals and performance preparation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead engaging, structured and age-appropriate performing arts classes
- Teach musical theatre skills across singing, dance and acting
- Create and teach lesson plans/choreography that is clear, safe and suitable for the age group
- Plan and deliver sessions that build confidence, focus, teamwork and performance ability
- Support show preparation, including scene work, music learning, staging, spacing, cleaning numbers and rehearsal structure
- Help maintain strong behaviour routines in a positive and professional way
- Be a strong role model and ambassador for Esprit Performing Arts
- Communicate professionally with the team, students and parents where needed
- Follow safeguarding procedures and uphold the standards of the school
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for someone who has:
- Experience teaching children in a structured performing arts or education setting
- Confidence leading a class independently
- Strong ability across acting, singing and dance
- Good classroom management with a warm but clear approach
- The ability to engage children and keep sessions focused, fun and productive
- A professional attitude and the maturity to lead by example
- Experience choreographing and preparing children for performance
- Reliability, organisation and good communication skills
- An enhanced DBS, or willingness to obtain one
- A good understanding of safeguarding and working with children
Desirable, But Not Essential
- Musical theatre training and/or professional performance credits
- Experience working on youth productions
- Experience with blocking, vocals, harmonies, spacing or backstage support
- First Aid qualification
- Experience teaching a range of ages, from early years through to older children
Hours & Commitment
This role includes regular weekly teaching on Wednesdays and Saturdays, with additional hours available around show periods, rehearsals and holiday camps.
