We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Mental Health Practitioner to join our Mental Health team at HMP Stocken, a category C Men’s Prison located in Stretton, Rutland.

In this role you'll be working with a multi-disciplinary team that will support you and help you succeed.

The Mental Health Service is covered:

Monday to Sunday service
37.5 hours per week
Various shift patterns covering between 8am - 5pm (08:00am-16:00pm. 08:30am-16:30pm, 09:00am-17:00pm)
1 weekend in 4 - 8.30am - 4.30pm

This position is full time, you’ll receive an annual salary between £43,609- £49,175 per annum - depending on experience.

What you'll be doing

As a Senior Mental Health Nurse, your responsibilities will vary. You will

Work within a multi-disciplinary team carrying out comprehensive assessments, initiating and reviewing care plans, and developing treatment options
Undertake medication rounds, and assess and treat patients who may have undergone traumatic
experiences and may be distressed
Assess patient’s health needs using an evidence based framework and be able to risk assess use sound clinical knowledge
You will work with individuals providing advice, support and information and manage a case load of patients.
Deliver non-judgemental care that makes a real difference
You will monitor therapeutic responses to medication and potential side effects liaising with prescribers as required.
Inspire excellence by forging strong links with our partners and stakeholders
Promote best practice, clinical supervision, evidence based care
Share knowledge, skills and expertise to ensure safe care, building strong multi-disciplinary teams
and supporting each other to do a great job.

Qualifications required:

Qualified Mental Health Nurse - NMC registration
Evidence of Continued Professional Development
Experience of working with patients, face to face, who have complex mental health conditions

Although not essential ideal applicants would have experience in a hospital, community or prison environment.
