Full job description

Swimming Teacher – Cover Swimming Teacher – Kirkham, Preston.

We are looking for a reliable and experienced Cover Swimming Teacher to join our team on a flexible, as-needed basis. You will primarily provide holiday and absence cover, and will usually be given plenty of notice ahead of any shifts. This is a fantastic opportunity for a qualified swimming teacher looking for flexible work alongside other commitments.

The Role

Cover shifts are available on:

Wednesday: 3:45pm – 5:45pm (2 hours) — please arrive before 3:45pm
Thursday: 3:45pm – 6:45pm (3 hours) — please arrive before 3:45pm

You may be asked to cover one or both shifts depending on requirements.

We already have confirmed cover dates coming up:

Wednesday 24th June 2026
Thursday 16th July 2026

Classes

You will be teaching group swimming lessons for children ranging from preschool age through to Swim England Stage 5. Class sizes are small, with a maximum of 4–6 children per group, allowing you to give focused attention to each learner.

Pay

£25 per hour for experienced teachers (confirmed following a probationary teaching observation)
From £22 per hour for those earlier in their teaching career

Pay rate is agreed based on experience and qualifications following an initial teaching session

Requirements

Level 2 Swimming Teaching qualification (essential)
Valid DBS check (we can arrange this if needed)
Confident teaching children from preschool age to Swim England Stage 5
Reliable, punctual, and professional
Good communication skills with children and parents
Flexible and available at short notice when required

Interview Process

Before joining the team, we ask all candidates to take part in a short 30 minute informal interview to have a chat about the role and get to know you a little better. We prefer to meet in person, however we are happy to arrange this online if that is easier for you.
