Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Bench Joiner/Wood Machinist to join our manufacturing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for fabricating, assembling, and finishing high-quality wooden components for various projects. This role offers an excellent opportunity to utilise your carpentry expertise and contribute to bespoke joinery solutions. The position involves working with a range of hand tools, power tools, and machinery within a workshop environment, ensuring precision and adherence to safety standards.
This role will also require occasional hands-on joinery site work, assisting with first and second fix joinery, fitting works, alterations, snagging and general carpentry tasks where required.
Responsibilities
- Operate woodworking machinery and power tools to cut, shape, and finish timber components with accuracy.
- Fabricate bespoke joinery items according to technical drawings and specifications.
- Assemble wooden parts using hand tools and joinery techniques to produce durable products.
- Inspect finished work for quality, accuracy, and adherence to client requirements.
- Maintain a clean and organised workshop environment, ensuring safety protocols are followed at all times.
- Assist with the installation of finished products on-site when required.
- Collaborate with team members to meet production deadlines and optimise workflow.
Requirements
- Proven experience in fabrication, assembly, or carpentry within a joinery or woodworking environment.
- Proficiency in using hand tools such as chisels, saws, planes, and clamps.
- Familiarity with power tools including routers, drills, sanders, and saws.
- Knowledge of joinery techniques and construction principles.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications accurately.
- Physical capability for heavy lifting and standing for extended periods during shifts.
- Additional skills such as roofing, construction painting, plumbing, masonry, electrical experience are advantageous but not essential.
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to quality workmanship.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. The successful applicant will be offered a good rate of pay (negotiable) based on a 40hr standard week, over time also available.
Expected to carry a UK full drivers licence.
