Full job description

SAP Construction Ltd is looking to expand its workforce across the Tri-Base area, covering all aspects of groundworks and general labour operations.

We are particularly interested in candidates who already hold base access clearance together with relevant industry certifications, including CSCS, CPCS and NPORS. Apprentices will also be considered as part of our continued investment in developing and strengthening our growing team.

The key attribute we are seeking is adaptability and a proactive approach, as our projects are continually evolving and the working environments can vary significantly across each site and scope of works.

Overview
We are seeking a reliable and physically capable Ground Worker / Labourer / Machine Driver to join our team at RAF Lakenheath. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to contribute to large-scale infrastructure projects and maintenance operations on a military base. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with ground works, operating machinery, and supporting various construction and maintenance tasks in a dynamic environment. Prior experience in similar roles is advantageous but not essential, as training will be provided.

Duties

Assisting with ground preparation, excavation, and site clearance activities
Operating machinery such as diggers, loaders, and other construction equipment in accordance with safety protocols
Supporting the delivery and movement of materials around the site using appropriate tools and vehicles
Ensuring work areas are kept clean, organised, and safe at all times
Assisting tradespeople and other team members with their tasks as required
Following all health and safety regulations to maintain a secure working environment
Reporting any issues or hazards to the supervisor promptly

Skills

Previous experience in ground work, labouring, or operating construction machinery is desirable but not mandatory
Good physical fitness and stamina to perform manual tasks over extended periods
Ability to follow instructions accurately and work effectively within a team
Basic understanding of health and safety procedures related to construction sites
Valid driving licence is preferred to operate machinery or vehicles on-site
Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to different tasks as needed
