Job Summary
The Salty Dog Harbour Cafe is a busy little cafe on the Dover Marina Curve. We have a small team of highly motivated staff and are looking for a new person to join the team!
We are seeking a responsible and motivated Cafe Key Holder to oversee daily operations during shifts. The successful candidate will play a vital role in maintaining high standards of service, food safety, and cleanliness. This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with previous experience in food service to demonstrate leadership skills and contribute to a welcoming café environment. The key holder will be entrusted with opening and closing responsibilities, ensuring smooth running of the café, and supporting team members as needed.
Responsibilities
- Open and close the café, ensuring all procedures are followed accurately and securely
- Supervise staff during shifts, providing guidance and support as necessary
- Maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene in accordance with health regulations
- Prepare and serve beverages and food items efficiently, adhering to quality standards
- Assist with serving customers, taking orders, and handling payments accurately using basic maths skills
- Ensure the cleanliness of the café environment, including equipment, counters, and seating areas
- Manage stock levels and organise inventory replenishment when required
- Handle customer enquiries or complaints professionally to ensure customer satisfaction
- Support team members with food preparation tasks during busy periods
Skills
- Proven experience as a barista or in a similar food service role, with knowledge of coffee brewing and food preparation techniques
- Strong understanding of food safety standards and hygiene practices
- Excellent time management skills to prioritise tasks effectively during shifts
- Good organisational skills to manage opening/closing procedures and stock organisation
- Ability to serve customers courteously while maintaining efficiency under pressure
- Basic maths skills for handling cash transactions accurately
- Effective communication skills to lead team members and interact positively with customers
