Female Personal Assistant – Cranbrook, Kent (TN17)
Ad Hoc Support | Approximately 10-Hour Shifts | Shadow Shift Provided
Rate:£20 per hour
We are looking for an experienced, calm and compassionate Personal Assistant to support an older lady in her home in the Cranbrook area.
The client is a former nurse who enjoys painting, sewing, baking, flower arranging and completing jigsaw puzzles with others. She also enjoys watching Antiques Roadshow and nature documentaries.
This opportunity will provide occasional respite for her family, who are closely involved in her day-to-day support.
Support Dates
Support is currently required on:
- 15 July: Approximately 10 hours, from the afternoon into the evening. There may be the possibility of overnight support.
- 3 August: Approximately 1:00pm–11:00pm.
Exact timings will be confirmed with the family.
A paid three-hour shadow shift will be arranged before the first support date, allowing the successful PA to become familiar with the client’s routines, equipment and preferences.
About the Role
Support will include:
- Personal care, washing and dressing
- Continence care and changing continence pads
- Supporting the client to use the toilet when required
- Safe moving and handling
- Supporting transfers using a Sara Steady
- Supporting mobility using a Zimmer frame, wheelchair and household railings
- Medication prompting and assistance with administration where agreed
- Monitoring skin integrity and applying barrier creams as directed
- Light household tasks and cleaning equipment after use
- Companionship, reassurance and gentle encouragement
- Supporting participation in activities such as puzzles, games and television
- Monitoring wellbeing and reporting any concerns to the family
The client has reduced mobility following a previous stroke and requires support with all transfers. She also experiences short-term memory difficulties, poor eyesight and reduced hearing. Information should be communicated verbally, clearly and patiently.
About You
We are looking for a PA who has:
- Experience supporting older adults with frailty and reduced mobility
- Strong personal care and continence care experience
- Moving and handling experience
- Confidence using a Sara Steady and Zimmer frame
- Experience supporting someone following a stroke
- An understanding of short-term memory loss
- Experience with medication support
- A calm, patient and reassuring approach
- The ability to protect the client’s dignity, comfort and independence
- Confidence working independently and communicating with family members
Previous experience using mobility equipment is essential.
This would suit an experienced PA looking for meaningful, ad hoc work supporting a friendly older lady in her own home.
