Full job description

Overview

Velrain are looking for a highly organised and detail-oriented Drainage Project Estimator to join our growing team. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality reports and estimates for drainage surveys, water supply investigations, and subsidence-related claims.

This role requires excellent communication skills, technical understanding and the ability to produce clear, accurate documentation that meets both client expectations and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

Produce clear, concise, and professional reports from site survey information and technical findings.
Prepare fully costed repair schedules and quotations using appropriate repair methods.
Ensure reports are easy to understand for both technical and non-technical audiences.
Identify causes of damage to drainage and water supply systems.
Apply insurance principles to ensure correct policy coverage is considered.
Ensure all reports comply with client requirements, service level agreements, Building Regulations and industry standards.
Communicate with policyholders where cover may not apply, explaining findings professionally and clearly.
Liaise with drainage surveyors, project managers, claims handlers and policyholders throughout the claims process.
Maintain accurate updates to ensure all parties understand the current status of each claim.
Complete daily report allocations within agreed timescales.

Core Skills & Experience

Strong communication and customer service skills.
Excellent attention to detail and organisational ability.
Confident using Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
Experience using MS Office drawing tools or similar software to produce simple site sketches and layouts.
Ability to manage relationships with clients, contractors and policyholders professionally.
Ability to prioritise workload and work effectively within deadlines.

Desirable Skills

Previous experience within the drainage, water supply, or insurance claims industry.
Industry qualifications such as OS20X or OS19X.
Knowledge of Environment Agency regulations relating to off-mains drainage systems.
