Salary: £26,500 - £30,000 depending on experience

The role:
We are looking for a proactive and people-focused HR Advisor / Administrator to join our team. This role is key in delivering a high-quality HR service across the business, acting as a trusted first point of contact for employees and supporting managers with practical, compliant HR guidance.
You will be involved in the full employee lifecycle, employee relations, and day-to-day HR operations, while also contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and employee engagement activities.
This is a full-time role based at our headquarters in Kendal. Monday - Friday
What you’ll be doing:
- Manage day-to-day HR administration including contracts, onboarding, and maintaining employee records
- Take ownership of sickness absence management, including monitoring and return-to-work processes
- Respond to HR queries in line with company policies and employment legislation
- Support employee lifecycle processes such as probation reviews and contractual changes
- Assist with employee relations matters including disciplinaries, grievances, and absence cases
- Ensure compliance with employment legislation and internal HR policies
- Support the HR Lead with general HR activities, including meeting coordination and note-taking
- Maintain accurate and confidential HR data in line with data protection requirements
- Identify opportunities to improve HR processes and employee experience
- Build strong working relationships with employees and managers across the business
- Lead the organisation of company events (e.g. Christmas parties and summer BBQs)
- Support Occupational Health processes
- Assist with recruitment activities where required
What you’ll need:
Essential
- Proven experience in an HR administration or advisory role
- Knowledge of employment legislation and HR best practice
- Experience managing sickness absence and employee relations processes
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
- Confident and approachable when dealing with employees at all levels
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
- Proactive, self-motivated, and able to use initiative
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- CIPD qualified (or working towards)
Desirable
- Experience within a manufacturing or operational environment
- Familiarity with HR systems
