Full job description

Summary of Role:

To support the Bar & Catering Manager in the effective management of the bar and catering services, with a strong focus on events, customer experience, and operational excellence. This role will ensure the consistent delivery of exceptional service standards, the professional development of the team, and the smooth coordination of all bar and catering operations within budgeted requirements.

The needs of the business require operational coverage seven days per week, including some evenings. Flexibility in working hours is essential to meet these requirements.

Job Location: The Luffenham Heath Golf Club, Stamford Road, South Luffenham, Stamford, Rutland, PE9 3UU

Key Duties (but not limited to):

Customer Service & Experience

Exemplify exceptional service standards and consistently strive to exceed member and guest expectations.
Actively engage with customers to build relationships, respond to feedback, and deliver memorable experiences.
Oversee the quality control of food and beverages, ensuring presentation, consistency, and standards are maintained at all times.

Events & Catering Operations

Lead with the planning, coordination, and delivery of club events, tournaments, and private functions.
Lead the operational side of catering for events, ensuring staffing, logistics, and service run seamlessly.
Collaborate with the kitchen and office teams to deliver exceptional food, beverage, and service experiences.

Team Development & Training

Support the recruitment, training, and induction of staff, ensuring all team members are well-prepared and motivated.
Deliver ongoing training to improve skills, customer service, and attention to detail.
Assist the Bar & Catering Manager in monitoring staffing levels, ensuring resources are aligned with budgeted requirements.
Act as a role model for professionalism, dedication, and proactive leadership.

Financial & Business Support

Assist in cost control, stock management, and accurate handling of financial transactions.
Support sales analysis and performance reviews, helping identify opportunities for increased efficiency and profitability.
Assist with the development and execution of new initiatives to improve operations, enhance member satisfaction, and drive revenue.

Leadership & Collaboration

Deputise for the Bar & Catering Manager when required.
Work collaboratively with all departments to ensure a seamless service across the club.
Promote a culture of excellence, continuous improvement, and member-focused service.

Skills & Experience

Essential:

Minimum of 2 years’ supervisory experience in hospitality, bar, or catering.
Strong training skills with the ability to inspire and develop staff.
Sound financial awareness, including cost control and sales analysis.
Demonstrated ability to organise and deliver events successfully.
Strong communication skills with an eye for detail and a proactive approach.
Knowledge of food hygiene, health & safety, and licensing requirements.

Desirable:

Experience working in a golf club, leisure, or sporting environment.
Experience with introducing and leading new initiatives.
Experience in a kitchen setting, including general cooking or chef tasks
