Dog Training Handler
Do you have a passion for dogs and a genuine interest in canine behaviour and training? The Dog Training Company is looking for a dedicated Dog Handler to join our growing team and support the delivery of our industry leading training and behaviour programmes.
This is a hands on role working with dogs at every stage of their training journey, from young puppies through to complex behavioural cases. You will work closely with our Head Trainers and wider Training Team, helping to implement training plans, maintain high welfare standards, and provide the consistency that drives lasting behavioural change.

Key Responsibilities
- Handle dogs enrolled on 1:1 training, Board and Train and Residential programmes in line with trainer led plans
- Support trainers with the delivery of behaviour modification and obedience programmes
- Exercise, enrich and care for dogs throughout their stay
- Maintain detailed records relating to dog welfare, progress and daily activities
- Monitor behaviour and communicate observations to the training team
- Maintain exceptional standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout our 5 star facility
- Assist with feeding routines and the administration of medication where required
- Support customer drop offs and collections in a professional and welcoming manner
- Ensure every dog receives appropriate care, structure and supervision throughout the day

- Has a genuine passion for dogs and canine behaviour
- Is confident handling dogs of all breeds, sizes and temperaments
- Is calm, patient and observant
- Enjoys working outdoors and in a physically demanding environment
- Can follow training instructions consistently and accurately
- Has excellent attention to detail and a strong work ethic
- Works well within a team but is equally comfortable working independently
- Is committed to maintaining high standards of animal welfare
- Holds a full UK driving licence

Location: Wakefield, West Yorkshire (Topcliffe Close, Capitol Park)
Hours: 40 hours per week, including weekends and bank holidays on a rota basis
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
