About the Role
The Music Cube, home of Yamaha Music School Reading, is looking for an enthusiastic and versatile Piano/Keyboard & Singing Teacher to join our growing team from September 2026.
This role is ideal for a teacher who enjoys helping students of all ages and abilities.
If you can also teach drums (or guitar), this is a fantastic bonus and will open up additional teaching opportunities as our school continues to grow.
Current Teaching Hours
The successful applicant will begin with teaching on:
Fridays
3:30pm – 8:30pm
You will teach a mixture of new and existing students in our dedicated teaching studios in Caversham.
Future Teaching Opportunities
As our school continues to grow, we are actively expanding our teaching programme. While the following hours are not guaranteed immediately, they are opportunities we are developing for the right teacher:
- Sundays (10:00am – 4:00pm): Individual lessons.
- Thursdays (4:30pm – 8:30pm): Group keyboard and drum classes (new & existing).
- Saturday mornings (9:00am – 12:00pm): Group lessons and workshops.
- Weekday afternoons: Travelling to teach at student homes in Caversham and surrounding areas.
- Tuesday & Wednesday afternoons: Face-to-face lessons, with potential online teaching opportunities.
- Yamaha group courses: Full Yamaha training available for the right candidate.
- Holiday workshops: Group music sessions during school holidays.
- Future expansion: Additional teaching venues as the school continues to grow
- Online teaching: Opportunities to support live online lessons and contribute to the development of new online courses.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who:
- Can confidently teach piano/keyboard and singing
- Can prepare students for graded music exams (Grade 1–8 or equivalent)
- Has strong music reading skills
- Is comfortable teaching both children and adults
- Can teach a range of musical styles, including classical and contemporary
- Has experience helping students prepare for exams, performances and concerts
- Is enthusiastic, reliable and organised
- Is interested in developing both one-to-one and group teaching skills
Essential Requirements
- Available every Friday during term time
- Able to commit on a weekly basis throughout our academic year
- Comfortable teaching from our Caversham studios
- Able to arrive 15 minutes before lessons to prepare
- Looking for a long-term role (minimum one academic year preferred)
Additional Requirements
- DBS certificate (or willing to obtain one)
- Right to work in the UK
- You are responsible for your own tax, National Insurance and monthly invoicing

About Us
The Music Cube is an independent music school based in Caversham, Reading, supporting more than 120 students through individual lessons, group courses and home tuition.
As the home of Yamaha Music School Reading, we deliver Yamaha's internationally recognised keyboard and drum programmes alongside individual tuition.
Our students regularly perform in concerts and many work towards graded music exams, while others simply learn for the enjoyment of making music. We pride ourselves on providing a welcoming and supportive environment for students of all ages and abilities.
Interview Process
Initial interviews will take place via Zoom or Google Meet during July and August 2026.
Successful candidates from the first stage will be invited to attend an in-person interview at our Caversham studio.
