Lighting Technician / Projects Assistant
GE Production
Full-time (37.5 hours per week + events hours)
Salary: £25,000–£30,000 + paid day rate for event work
Location: Biggin Hill office/warehouse + event sites
The Role
This role combines hands-on lighting work with project support and technical preparation. It suits someone who enjoys delivering shows and making sure they’re properly prepared, documented, and improved behind the scenes.
You’ll support lighting design and delivery across events and band work, while also assisting with project preparation, systems, and technical organisation.
You don’t need to know everything already - but you do need solid fundamentals, curiosity, and the ability to learn quickly and apply what you’ve learned without too much repetition.
We’re looking for someone who wants continuity, responsibility, and long-term development within the business.
Key Responsibilities
Lighting Technician
- Design lighting for live events and band shows
- Set up, operate, and strike lighting systems to GE Production standards
- Work professionally with artists, bands, GE team and clients on site
Prep & Project Support

- Ensure correct equipment, quantities, and configurations are ready
- Assist with lighting design, power and technical planning
- Support smooth load-ins and load-outs
- Take on technical aspects of quoting
- Keep lighting-related information up to date in Current RMS
- Support accurate tracking of equipment in and out
- Work with the office team to ensure projects are well documented and technically sound, from quote stage right through to loading a van.
- Comfort with systems, attention to detail, and keeping information tidy is essential.
Collaboration
Work closely with the owner and wider team
Support freelance engineers when working together
Flag technical or logistical issues early, not on site
Weekend & Peak Season Commitment
GE Production’s busiest period is the summer events season and so as part of this role, you will be expected to be regularly available for Saturday event work during peak season, particularly for band shows and key productions.
All event days are paid separately at an agreed day rate and weekend work is planned in advance wherever possible
This role is not suited to someone who wants to avoid on-site show delivery.
Successful candidates will:
- Have experience in lighting for live events, shows and be confident working on gigs with appropriate support
- Pick things up quickly and have a genuine interest in lighting technologies
- Be comfortable balancing practical work with admin and systems
- Be reliable, calm under pressure, and good with people
- Interested in growing with the business
Whilst we will consider a local candidate without one, the ideal candidate will have a full UK Driving License.
Progression
As the business grows, there will be opportunities to take on greater technical responsibility, with senior roles including Senior Lighting Technician, Project Manager and Head of Lighting all within our future scope.
