Job Summary
We are seeking Therapeutic Parents (Residential Children's Workers) to join our team. Glow Futures is a specialist children’s home provider based in Poole, Dorset, offering therapeutic care for children aged 4 to 11 years. We support young children who have experienced trauma, particularly within caregiving relationships, through highly nurturing, family-style homes registered with Ofsted. Glow Futures is owned and run by experienced social work qualified Directors, with previous experience in managing successful children's social care businesses. You will be working for a highly regarded, knowledgeable and experienced team.
We have 2 homes in Poole. Each home cares for up to two children, creating a safe, stable, and intimate environment where healing and growth can flourish. Our Glow Therapeutic Re-Parenting Pathway provides assessment, intervention, and transition planning, with the ultimate goal of helping children move into long-term family life—through foster care, adoption, kinship, or reunification.

Salary: depends on qualifications, ranging from £13.50 - £15.00 per hour + sleep in payment of £50 per night. This averages £33,000 - £36,000 pa
The Role
We are particularly looking for people who have experience working with children in foster care, residential care, education settings (preferably a qualification Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare or equivalent). Most importantly the applicant will want to be part of a team who want to make a real difference to younger children in care, and be passionate about providing an abundance of love, care and good parenting to help the children learn how special, worthy and tremendous they are!
The full time shift pattern is 2 days on and 4 days off (sleep in). This is a set 6 week rolling shift pattern, with sleep in shifts, an average 38.5 hours per week working shifts.
PART TIME ROLES ALSO AVAILABLE.
You will act as a consistent, nurturing figure for children who have experienced trauma, providing daily care and emotional support within a small, family-style setting. We will also consider part time applicants working at least 1 sleep in shift per week.
As part of our multi-disciplinary team, you will work closely with social workers, psychologists, therapists, and teachers to deliver personalised care plans. Reflective practice and trauma-informed approaches are embedded in our daily routines, ensuring that every interaction contributes to a child’s recovery journey.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, therapeutic care within a nurturing home environment.
- Build trusting relationships with children, using the PACE model (Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity, Empathy).
- Support children with daily routines, hobbies, education, and enrichment activities.
- Work collaboratively with a clinical team to deliver tailored therapeutic interventions.
- Participate in reflective practice sessions and ongoing training.
- Contribute to detailed assessments, care planning, and transition planning.
- Maintain a safe, stable, and supportive environment that promotes healing and resilience.
About You
We’re looking for individuals who are resilient, compassionate, and motivated by the desire to make a lasting difference in children’s lives.
Essential:
- Experience working with children or young people, ideally those with social, emotional, or mental health needs.
- A commitment to trauma-informed practice and child-centred care.
- Emotional resilience and ability to stay calm under pressure.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins.
- A Driving Licence
- Over 21 years of age
Desirable:
- Qualifications in Residential Childcare (or equivalent social work, teaching, health and social care)
- Experience of therapeutic or trauma-informed models such as DDP or PACE.
- Knowledge of SEMH, attachment, autism, or ADHD.
