Age Concern Hampshire has a very rewarding role for a Relief Cook and we are looking for the ideal candidate to cover holidays and absences within our Care and Wellbeing Centre, Lockswood.
The role includes the planning, preparation and cooking of meals, snacks and refreshments for the Centre clients.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- The preparation, cooking and serving of meals, snacks and refreshments with due regard to the current food hygiene regulations and also allergen regulations.
- Ensuring that each client is served the correct meal, taking into consideration allergies, intolerances, dietary and health requirements.
- The ordering of food and the subsequent checking and safety of the items received, ensuring most cost effective resources are utilised to support quality of meals provided at the Wellbeing Centre.
- Assisting with the responsibility for day-to-day stock control and working within an agreed budget.
- Responsibility for ensuring the correct use and care of kitchen equipment in line with Health and Safety at Work codes of practice.
- Cleaning of cutlery etc. on a daily basis and other kitchen equipment on a regular basis.
- Supervision of volunteer helpers within the kitchen, ensuring that Health and Safety at Work regulations are complied with.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- To work as part of a team and be supportive of the needs of older people with dementia and other long term conditions.
- To undertake training and development in order to improve effectiveness
- To manage own administration and manage time effectively
- To contribute constructively to internal meetings
- To contribute to a clear focus on driving improvements in quality, impact and performance
- To commit to the Mission, Vision and Values, and be an ambassador for Age Concern Hampshire in all activities
- To comply with the policies and procedures of Age Concern Hampshire
- To undertake any other duties commensurate with the grade which may be required
- Using the agreed procedure, reporting verbally or in writing, any defects in equipment to the Wellbeing Centre Manager.
