Job Title: Joinery CAD Technician
Reporting to: Production Director
Department: Drawing & Workshop Department
Job Context:
As a key member of the team, the Joinery CAD Technician is responsible for producing accurate technical drawings, manufacturing details, and production information for bespoke joinery projects. The role acts as the technical link between design, estimating, production, procurement, and site installation, ensuring all joinery components are fully coordinated, manufacturable, compliant with project specifications, and delivered on programme.
Job Responsibilities:
Technical Design
· Review design intent drawings into detailed joinery production drawings.
· Produce detailed manufacturing drawings for bespoke joinery.
· Prepare workshop drawings, construction details, and assembly drawings.
· Prepare detailed working drawing for various contractor/suppliers (Marble, Metalworks)
· Develop accurate setting-out information from architectural or client issue drawings and site surveys.
· Produce cutting lists, component schedules, and material take-offs when applicable.
· Ensure drawings are suitable for CNC manufacture.
· Develop workshop drawings and technical documentation for manufacture and installation.
· Liaise with Project Managers and Workshop teams to resolve technical issues.
· Maintain drawing registers and manage revision control in coordination with Project Managers.
· Ensure drawings are compatible with manufacturing capabilities and site constraints.
· Support Estimating with technical clarifications and design queries.
· Send DXF files and coordinate with CNC operators.
· Manage and adhere to the design programme.
· Produce cutting lists and use optimization software/tools.
· Assist the Production Director and Workshop Manager with production-related tasks.
· Monitor hours allocated for drawing tasks and flag overruns to the Production Director.
· Ensure the Drawing Folder is kept up to date with the correct revisions and to S/S all out of date files and drawings.
Project Coordination
· Assist when required, to review architects’ client issue drawings, specifications, and tender documents.
· Identify design conflicts and technical issues prior to manufacture.
· Liaise with architects, designers, clients, consultants, and subcontractors where applicable
· Attend design coordination meetings where required.
· Assist with value engineering while maintaining quality and specification.
Production Support
· Provide technical support to workshop staff.
· Issue controlled drawing revisions.
· Assist manufacturing queries promptly.
· Produce installation drawings and fixing details where applicable.
· Support production planning through accurate information.
Procurement Support
· Prepare material schedules where applicable
· Assist procurement with timber, veneers, ironmongery, glass, laminates, and specialist components.
· Verify dimensions and quantities prior to ordering.
Compliance
· Ensure drawings comply with:
· Client specifications
· Building Regulations
· Fire certification requirements
· Accessibility standards where applicable
· Company quality procedures
Maintain document control and revision history
Key Duties
· Produce production drawings using CAD software.
· Amend drawings following client comments.
· Produce approval drawings for client sign-off.
· Generate CNC-ready information where required.
· Carry out drawing checks before issue.
· Coordinate drawing revisions.
· Maintain drawing registers.
· Support workshop and site teams throughout project delivery.
· Assist in developing standard construction details.
· Maintain company drawing standards.
Person Qualifications
· Relevant CAD qualification or equivalent experience.
· Essential Experience
· Experience within a bespoke joinery or woodworking manufacturing environment.
· Experience producing manufacturing drawings.
· Understanding of timber, veneers, laminates, solid surfaces, and sheet materials.
· Experience interpreting architectural & Client drawings and specifications.
Technical Skills
· CAD Software.

Pay: Up to £45,000.00 per year
