Course Leader Digital Art / Media
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Course Leader to lead and manage all curriculum activity across a defined subject pathway.
Working with the Pathway Manager, you will take ownership of a student group, leading on student experience, progress, and outcomes. The role includes protected time for regular one-to-one progress reviews with every student, alongside teaching, assessment, and course coordination.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching and Delivery
- Deliver high-quality teaching and assessment within agreed caseload and contact limits
- Set high expectations for achievement and behaviour
- Maintain accurate records and use digital tools to enhance learning
- Keep subject knowledge and industry practice up to date
Course Leadership
- Lead a positive course culture focused on achievement and retention
- Conduct scheduled one-to-one student progress reviews
- Monitor learner progress and use data to drive improvement
- Support at-risk learners and stretch high achievers
- Maintain accurate course and learner data systems
Quality & Improvement
- Contribute to course review and improvement processes
- Support development of schemes of work and learning resources
- Take part in assessment, moderation, and quality assurance processes
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to improve teaching and learning
Recruitment & Student Support
- Support recruitment, interviews, and enrolment activity
- Provide guidance to prospective and current learners
- Work with support teams to ensure inclusive practice and learner success
Safeguarding & Professional Duties
- Promote safeguarding, Prevent, equality, diversity, and inclusion
- Comply with all relevant policies and procedures
- Participate in CPD and wider college activities
What We’re Looking For
- Degree or equivalent in a relevant subject
- Teaching qualification (Level 4 minimum, Level 5 desirable)
- Experience teaching post-16 learners in Further Education
- Strong classroom practitioner with good subject knowledge
- Experience supporting learner progress and achievement
- Ability to use data, systems, and digital tools effectively
- Strong communication, organisation, and teamwork skills
- Commitment to safeguarding, inclusion, and student success
