Contract Packing Team Leader

The PHL Group is seeking a motivated and hands on Contract Packing Team Leader to support the day-to-day operation of our busy Fulfilment Department. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong organisational skills, a positive can-do attitude, and a passion for leading teams in a fast-paced warehouse environment.
The Role
As a Contract Packing Team Leader, you will play a key role in ensuring operational efficiency, maintaining quality standards, and supporting team performance across the fulfilment function. You will have a small permanent team to manage, alongside a team of temporary workers.
Working closely with the Operations Management team, you will coordinate daily activities in the department, ensuring required lead times are met. A flexible approach is required, with a strong ability to prioritise effectively and pivot due to changing business needs. You will drive a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement in the department.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the day-to-day running of the fulfilment department
- Analyse job specification and investigate the most productive way to complete each job.
- Manage resources effectively and plan in temporary and zero hours staff to meet workload requirements.
- Set up workstations and prepare operational areas for production activities
- QC kitted stock, hourly QC checks and QC checks for completed jobs.
- Wrap and prepare pallets for dispatch
- Monitor quality standards and ensure work is completed accurately and on time.
- Motivate your team in a positive way to achieve results daily, identifying and promote efficient working practices
- Encourage a positive, productive, and collaborative team environment
- Maintain excellent housekeeping and cleanliness standards
- Monitor departmental productivity and performance targets
- Assist with training and communicating updated processes and procedures
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience in a warehouse, fulfilment, logistics, or distribution environment is advantageous, but transferable skills with strengths in IT skills and resource planning would be equally as advantageous.
- Experience leading or supervising a team is desirable
- Strong leadership and people-management skills
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Good organisational and time-management abilities
- Ability to prioritise workloads in a fast-paced environment
- Comfortable using operational systems and IT packages
- A proactive, positive, and hands-on approach to work and leading the team.

Relevant Experience
We welcome applications from candidates with a variety of leadership, supervisory and customer-facing backgrounds. You may have previously worked as a Warehouse Team Leader, Warehouse Supervisor, Fulfilment Operative, Fulfilment Supervisor, Logistics Team Leader, Distribution Team Leader, Dispatch Supervisor, Production Team Leader, Manufacturing Team Leader, Shift Supervisor, Operations Supervisor, Stock Control Supervisor, or Transport Coordinator. We are also keen to hear from people with transferable leadership experience gained in retail and hospitality roles such as Store Supervisor, Retail Team Leader, Assistant Store Manager, Duty Manager, Department Supervisor, Restaurant Supervisor, Shift Manager, Assistant Manager, Front of House Manager, Catering Supervisor, or Hospitality Team Leader.
