Full job description

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Farm Hand to join our agricultural team. This role involves hands-on work across various farm operations, supporting the maintenance and development of the farm’s infrastructure, crops, and livestock. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth running of daily farm activities, contributing to sustainable and efficient farm management.

Duties

Assisting with irrigation systems to ensure proper water distribution across fields and crop areas
Operating and maintaining farm equipment, including repair and routine servicing
Using hand tools and power tools for repairs, construction, and general maintenance tasks
Performing heavy lifting for loading, unloading, and moving supplies or equipment
Caring for livestock by feeding, cleaning enclosures, and monitoring health
Supporting horticultural activities such as planting, pruning, harvesting, and pest control
Conducting routine equipment inspections and troubleshooting mechanical issues
Assisting with general farm maintenance including fencing, building repairs, and landscape upkeep
Applying basic maths skills for measurements, calculations related to planting schedules or feed quantities

Requirements

Prior experience with irrigation systems, mechanical knowledge, or horticulture is advantageous but not essential; training will be provided where necessary
Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, and basic farm machinery safely and effectively
Physical fitness to perform heavy lifting and work outdoors in various weather conditions
Basic maths skills for measurements and calculations related to daily tasks
Knowledge of animal care practices is desirable but not mandatory; willingness to learn is essential
Strong organisational skills with attention to detail in maintaining equipment and farm records
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
