We’re an established, much‑loved bakery in Purbeck, renowned for using fresh, quality ingredients to create everything from award‑winning artisan sourdough, our nationally acclaimed Dorset Apple Cake to our Street Pizza eat-in, takeaway and delivery service.
We are now delighted to be bringing our craft baking to Broadstone — and we’re looking for passionate, smiley and happy people to join our new team.
About the Role
We are offering an immediate start for one of the key roles for our new business. We are looking for an experienced, permanent, full-time (48hrs) Assistant Manager. You’ll play a key part in the smooth running of our new shop, supporting the day and/or the evening operations. You’ll help create a warm, welcoming environment for customers while ensuring our high standards of service, presentation, and product quality are consistently delivered.
What You’ll Do
- Support the Bakehouse Manager in daily operations across day and/or evening shifts
- Delivery exceptional customer service
- Lead and motivate the team to deliver outstanding customer service
- Maintain excellent product presentation and uphold brand standards
- Assist with stock control, ordering, and waste management
- Ensure food safety, hygiene, and health & safety standards are met
- Handle cashing‑up, opening/closing procedures, and shift management
- Help train, support, and develop new team members
- Contribute to a positive, friendly, community‑focused atmosphere
What We’re Looking For
- Essential - Experience in a supervisory or assistant management role (hospitality, bakery or café)
- Essential - Barista skills (latte art preferred but not essential)
- A hands‑on leader with strong communication and organisational skills
- Passion for great food, fresh ingredients, and artisan bakery products
- Someone who thrives in a busy, customer‑facing environment
- Reliable, proactive, and able to work flexible day and evening shifts
- A team player who leads by example and brings positive energy
