Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Trailer Fitter to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the assembly, repair, and maintenance of trailers, ensuring they meet safety and quality standards. Duties
- Fabricate and assemble trailer components using hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment
- Conduct repairs and maintenance on trailers, including electrical systems and structural elements
- Interpret schematics and technical drawings to ensure accurate assembly and repairs
- Perform soldering tasks as required for electrical wiring and connections
- Utilise equipment such as excavators and forklifts for handling heavy components safely
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues and execute necessary repairs or replacements
- Maintain detailed records of work performed and parts used
- Ensure all work complies with safety regulations and quality standards
- Assist with general workshop duties, including cleaning and organising tools and materials
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with clients regarding repairs or maintenance needs
Requirements
- Proven experience in fabrication, welding, electrical work, or mechanical assembly
- Strong understanding of schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings
- Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, soldering equipment, and maintenance machinery
- Knowledge of trailer or vehicle repair is highly desirable
- Experience operating heavy machinery such as excavators and forklifts is advantageous
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently
- Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Good organisational skills to manage multiple tasks effectively
- Strong communication skills to liaise with team members and clients professionally
- Relevant qualifications or certifications in welding, electrical work, or mechanical repair are preferred
