Job Summary
The Bar & Food Service Supervisor is responsible for leading the front-of-house team to deliver outstanding customer service while ensuring the smooth and efficient daily operation of the bar and restaurant. The role involves supervising staff, maintaining high standards of service, ensuring compliance with licensing and food safety regulations, and helping to create a welcoming atmosphere for every guest.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service
- Deliver exceptional customer service at all times.
- Welcome and seat guests in a friendly and professional manner.
- Ensure food and drinks are served promptly and accurately.
- Handle customer enquiries and complaints professionally, resolving issues where possible.
- Promote repeat business through excellent hospitality.
Team Leadership
- Supervise, motivate and support the front-of-house team during shifts.
- Allocate duties and ensure staff understand daily responsibilities.
- Lead by example in appearance, attitude and customer care.
- Assist with the induction and training of new employees.
- Monitor staff performance and provide constructive feedback.
Bar Operations
- Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages in accordance with licensing laws.
- Maintain excellent product knowledge, including beers, wines, spirits and cocktails.
- Monitor stock levels and report shortages.
- Ensure the bar is clean, organised and fully stocked throughout service.
Food Service
- Coordinate food service between the kitchen and restaurant.
- Ensure meals are delivered correctly and efficiently.
- Maintain high standards of presentation and cleanliness.
- Ensure allergen procedures are followed and customers receive accurate information.
Cash Handling & Administration
- Operate the EPOS system accurately.
- Process cash and card payments.
- Balance tills and complete end-of-shift procedures where required.
- Assist with stock counts and ordering.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Follow Food Safety and Hygiene Regulations.
- Ensure compliance with licensing legislation.
- Maintain excellent standards of cleanliness throughout the premises.
- Carry out opening and closing procedures safely.
- Report maintenance or safety concerns immediately.
Person Specification
Essential
- Previous experience supervising within a pub, bar or restaurant.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to lead and motivate a team.
- Good organisational skills.
- Ability to work under pressure in a busy environment.
- Flexible approach to working evenings, weekends and bank holidays.
- Personal Licence holder or willingness to obtain one (desirable).
Desirable
- Food Hygiene Certificate.
- First Aid qualification.
- Experience using EPOS systems.
- Knowledge of cellar management and stock control.

Hours of Work
