Driver (Whitehaven & Surrounding Region) | Job Description
Location: Based in Whitehaven (covering West Cumbria & surrounding areas)
Reporting to: Logistics Manager
Role Purpose
As a Driver for Farplace Animal Rescue, you are the face of the charity in the community. You will be responsible for collecting donations from supporters, delivering purchases to customers, & assisting with stock transfers between our stores in the North West. This role is physically demanding & requires a friendly, professional approach.
Key Responsibilities
1. Collections & Deliveries
- Carry out furniture & stock collections from residential & business addresses across Whitehaven & the surrounding region.
- Deliver sold items to customers safely & professionally.
- Assist with store to store stock transfers to ensure our shops remain well-stocked.
2. Vehicle Care & Safety
- Ensure the van is kept clean, tidy, & professional at all times.
- Perform daily vehicle safety checks (tyres, lights, oil, water) & report any issues to the Logistics Manager immediately.
- Drive safely & responsibly, adhering to all UK road laws & speed limits.
3. Customer Service & Representation
- Act as an ambassador for Farplace Animal Rescue, providing excellent customer service during every interaction.
- Handle donations with care & thank donors for their support.
- Assist in loading & unloading the vehicle, ensuring items are secured correctly to prevent damage.
4. Ethos & Compliance
- Maintain a respectful attitude toward the charity’s mission of animal welfare.
Person Specification
- Driving Experience: Proven experience driving a 3.5t van (or similar) is preferred.
- Physical Fitness: This role involves heavy lifting, including moving furniture & large bags of stock.
- Local Knowledge: Good knowledge of Whitehaven & the West Cumbria road network.
- Interpersonal Skills: Friendly, polite, & able to communicate clearly with the public & store teams.
- Reliability: Punctual & dependable with a strong work ethic.
Requirements
- Licence: A full, clean UK driving licence is essential.
- Right to Work: Must have the legal right to work in the UK.
- Commitment: Must be supportive of the charity’s values & mission.
Pay: £12.72 per hour
