We are looking to recruit a highly motivated Trainee Deputy Manager to work in our shops at the Kent and Canterbury hospital. We have 3 shops on site and the successful candidate would need to oversee the day to day running of all of these shops.
The League is seeking someone with an enthusiastic, outward going personality, is able to work flexibly as part of a team, enjoys customer contact and some retail experience would be desirable.
The role will be 37.5 hours per week over 5 days (7.5 hours per day) however the successful applicant will also need to be flexible to help with holiday / sickness cover if needed. The role would have varied shift patterns with the earliest starting at 6:30am and the latest finishing at 7:30pm.
The successful applicant will need to be able to cover the shops manager when he is on holiday or sick.
This post primarily involves assisting the shops manager in running the 3 shops in the hospital. Please see overview below for more detailed information on the role.
Overview of role
· Administration: Various ordering/admin tasks, including banking in line with charity polices. Relationship building and contact with volunteers as and when needed. Payroll administration and Rota planning.
· Contact with Suppliers: Ordering on a daily basis. Checking in deliveries and quality of products received. Checking supplier prices and raising any changes with the Shop Manager
· People: Supporting the charities polices and processes and raising any concerns with Line Manager. Complete Team Member training and support with training of New starters/ Volunteers . Support with refresher training and raise any concerns with Line Manager. Support Line Manager with Team Member reviews.
· Cover Line Manager for Absence and planned holidays: This will include planned days off, including weekend and late night cover for supervisor’s absence or holidays when needed.
· Profit: Focus on sales and ensuring controls such as waste and ordering is in line with Financial targets.
· Customer service: Monitor team customer service skills and give feedback with support of Line Manager. Investigate and inform Line Manager of any customer complaints. Share and celebrate compliments
· Shops: Cash handling, adhering to cash policies, serving customer, receiving deliveries, ordering stock, replenishing stock, and merchandising. Team building and supporting employees and volunteers with day to day tasks. Supervise running of shops to trading hours on Saturday and Sunday.
Food safety/ Health and safety : Maintaining high standards of cleaning, date checking, stock rotation and temperature control of equipment. Take part in risk assessments and ensuring policy is in place. Ensure cleaning and hygiene practices are in place and reviewed on a daily basis to ensure high standards are in place.
Training and induction
· Induction to the league of friends will take place on day 1.
· All training will be given within a 6-12 week training period
· Probationary period is 6 months
· Formal reviews will take place at 4, 8 and 12 weeks and will include informal check in’s on a regular basis with your line Manager.
