As a Baby & Parent Swimming Instructor at Swim Central, you play a key role in introducing babies and pre-school children to the water in a safe, supportive and confidence-building environment.

You’re not just teaching swimming — you’re helping families create positive early water experiences, build confidence, and develop essential lifesaving skills from the very first splash.

The best instructors are patient, calm, and engaging. You know how to support nervous parents, encourage little milestones, and create a warm environment where children feel safe to explore and learn.

Swim Central is a growing independent swim school based in Preston, delivering high-quality swimming lessons for babies, children, and schools across the local area.

We are passionate about water confidence, safety, and progression. Our approach is structured but family-focused, ensuring every child receives the attention and support they need to thrive.

As we continue to grow, we are building a strong team of instructors who share our values of professionalism, care, and enthusiasm for teaching.

About the role…

We are looking for a Baby & Parent Swimming Instructor to join our team and deliver engaging, fun, and developmentally appropriate lessons for babies and pre-school children.

This is a part-time role with fixed weekly hours, ideal for someone looking for consistent work within a supportive environment.

You will be fully supported with ongoing training and development, and there are opportunities to increase hours as the swim school expands.

Key responsibilities

Deliver safe, structured and engaging baby & parent swimming lessons
Build water confidence in babies and pre-school children
Support and guide parents/carers throughout lessons
Adapt teaching to suit individual child development needs
Maintain high standards of safeguarding and safety at all times
Record attendance and monitor progress where required
Create a positive, welcoming and calm learning environment

What we’re looking for

A qualified swimming instructor (or working towards qualification)
Experience or interest in baby and pre-school swimming (preferred but not essential)
Patient, friendly and confident working with young children and parents
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Passion for early years development and water safety
Reliable and committed team player

Essential qualifications (one of the following)

STA Level 2 Award or Certificate in Teaching Swimming
Swim England Level 2 Teaching Swimming Qualification
STA Level 2 Award in Teaching Swimming

If you do not currently hold a baby & preschool qualification, but are the right fit for the role, we are happy to support you through training and certification.
