Editor
At North Parade Publishing, it is our mission to create engaging books for children which both educate and entertain, from novelty board books to engaging non-fiction titles.
We are looking for an Editor to join our growing children’s publishing team. They must have a passion for children’s books and experience working in an editorial role, ideally in children’s publishing. However, we are open to applicants with other book editorial experience too. If you are creative with excellent editorial skills, a keen eye for detail, and clear experience within publishing, we want to hear from you!
This is a full-time position based in our office in Bath.
Key Responsibilities
- Proofreading
- Copyediting
- Copywriting for board books, cover copy, marketing copy and more
- Keeping our system data up to date on management systems, such as Dymanics 365 and Booksonix
- Tracking white samples, PPS and advances
- Sending out advances to contributors
- Following our editorial style guide closely to ensure quality and consistency across our list
- Supporting the design team taking books from concept to advances
- Liaising with authors from briefing to final manuscript
- Work closely with the design team on the creation of catalogues and other marketing materials
- Keeping up to date with trends and sharing ideas for new products
- Supporting work experience students during their time with us
Key Skills
- At least two years working as an editor within publishing, ideally children’s
- Impeccable grasp of spelling, grammar, punctuation and semantics
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Excellent organisation and time-management skills
- Need excellent writing skills to tackle both book copy and marketing/sales copy
- Thrive in a fast-paced environment and be able to switch priorities when needed
- Knowledge of the children’s book market is essential
- Able to work independently, handling multiple projects
- Friendly, team-focused attitude
