Job Introduction

South Wonston Primary School is a welcoming and ambitious village school at the heart of its community. Our children are enthusiastic, curious and proud of their school, and our staff team work closely together to create a supportive environment where everyone is encouraged to grow and succeed.

We are looking to appoint a friendly, organised and enthusiastic Administrative Assistant to join our busy school office team from 1st September 2026. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and takes pride in providing excellent service to pupils, parents, staff and visitors.

As the first point of contact for visitors to the school, you will play a key role in supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the school office while helping to create a welcoming and professional environment.

About the Role

The successful candidate will:

Act as the first point of contact for general parent/pupil/visitor enquiries
Assist with pupil attendance records and monitor daily attendance
Administer school meal bookings and records
Coordinate and administer school trips, including permissions, payments and communications
Provide general administrative support to school staff and parents
Support the smooth operation of the school reception and front-of-house service
Order and maintain stocks of school supplies
Producing routine correspondence, letters and reports
Maintain pupil records and school databases
Support wider school events and activities.

About You

We are looking for someone who:

Has excellent organisational and administrative skills
Has strong communication and interpersonal skills
Is confident using Google Workspace applications, including Google Drive, Google Docs, Google Sheets and Gmail, and is willing to learn or has experience of school management systems
Can manage competing priorities and work effectively under pressure
Has a professional, friendly and approachable manner
Demonstrates accuracy and attention to detail
Enjoys working as part of a team and building positive relationships with children, families and colleagues
Has GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths
