Job overview

Adavu CIO is seeking a Support Caseworker to join our small team supporting adult survivors of modern slavery and human trafficking across the West Midlands.

This is a trauma informed casework role providing practical, emotional and advocacy based support to survivors as they rebuild their lives after exploitation. The role will involve holding an allocated caseload, working with clients to identify needs, strengths, risks and goals, and supporting people to access services, rights and opportunities.

The postholder will work closely with the Casework Manager, Director, colleagues, volunteers and partner agencies to ensure clients receive safe, consistent and respectful support.

Role details

Hours: 16 hours per week, with potential to increase to 20 hours per week subject to funding and organisational need.

Salary: £28,304.58 FTE, pro rata. Actual salary for 16 hours per week: £12,076.62. This equates to £14.52 per hour.

Location: Adavu office, Balsall Heath, Birmingham, with travel across Birmingham and the wider West Midlands.

Contract: Fixed term for 12 months, with possible extension subject to funding.

Closing date: Wednesday 15 July 2026.

Interview date: Tuesday 21st July 2026.

Main duties

Provide trauma informed casework support to adult survivors of modern slavery and human trafficking.
Hold and manage an allocated caseload, ensuring work is planned, recorded and reviewed appropriately.
Complete client assessments, identify needs and risks, and develop individual support plans.
Provide practical advocacy and support around housing, welfare benefits, health, safety, financial wellbeing, access to services and community integration.
Support clients to attend appointments where appropriate, including with statutory services, legal representatives, health services, housing providers and specialist agencies.
Maintain accurate, timely and confidential case records in line with Adavu policies and data protection requirements.
Work collaboratively with colleagues, volunteers and partner agencies to ensure safe and effective support.
Contribute to monitoring information, casework evidence and reports for funders, trustees and stakeholders.
Attend supervision, team meetings, training and external meetings as required.
Work within Adavu’s safeguarding, confidentiality, professional boundaries, health and safety, equality and data protection policies.

Skills and experience

We are looking for someone with experience of supporting vulnerable or marginalised people, strong communication skills and a commitment to survivor centred, trauma informed and anti discriminatory practice.

You will need to be able to work safely and sensitively with adults affected by trauma, exploitation and abuse. You will also need to manage a caseload, maintain professional boundaries, keep accurate records and work well as part of a small team.

Experience of modern slavery, human trafficking, domestic abuse, exploitation, homelessness, asylum, migration or related forms of vulnerability would be helpful. However, we also welcome applications from people with relevant transferable, voluntary, professional or lived experience.

The successful applicant will be subject to references, right to work checks and a satisfactory Enhanced DBS check.
