Construction Manager
Location: Bedford (with nationwide travel)

About Us:
With over 50 years of industry experience, M&J Group is a market-leading specialist construction company operating across three core divisions: Flat Roofing, Pitched Roofing, and Construction. Our Construction Division continues to grow rapidly, delivering projects ranging from £250k to £3 million across the UK. We work on a variety of schemes — from Department for Education (CIF-funded) projects and competitive tenders to education-sector refurbishments — covering everything from fire compliance and structural repairs to M&E upgrades, envelope works, full refurbishments, and new builds.

The Role:
We’re looking for an experienced and driven Construction Manager to oversee multiple refurbishment projects from award through to handover. Based at our Bedford head office, you’ll spend time on-site across the UK, ensuring each project is delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest standard. You’ll also work closely with the Contracts Director during weekly progress meetings.

Key Responsibilities:

Confirm project scope and issue RFIs to agree on contract terms and costs
Manage market testing, tendering, and the appointment of subcontractors
Support the Commercial Team with purchase orders and valuations
Set up sites, ensuring all Health & Safety documentation is in place
Maintain strong client relationships, particularly in occupied premises
Carry out regular site inspections and complete quality check reports via our app
Oversee supply chain performance and resolve any issues proactively
Approve subcontractor applications and support valuation processes
Lead project close-out, achieving practical completion and smooth handover

What You’ll Bring:

Proven experience in construction management or a related role
Excellent communication, organisational, and time management skills
Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail
Confident using Microsoft Office and Excel
Full UK driving licence

Salary: £55,000 – £65,000 per year (DOE)
