The Role
We are looking for an ambitious and commercially driven Generics Trader to join our expanding trading team. This role is ideal for someone with experience in pharmaceutical trading, procurement, sales or account management who can identify profitable opportunities, negotiate effectively and build strong supplier and customer relationships.
You will be responsible for buying and selling generic medicines, managing customer accounts, securing competitive pricing, and maximising profit opportunities across domestic and export markets.
Key Responsibilities
- Source and trade generic pharmaceutical products within the UK and international markets.
- Build and maintain relationships with manufacturers, wholesalers, pharmacies and healthcare providers.
- Negotiate purchasing and selling prices to maximise profitability.
- Identify market shortages, opportunities and pricing trends.
- Manage customer enquiries, quotations and order fulfilment.
- Develop new business opportunities and expand existing accounts.
- Monitor stock levels, availability and market demand.
- Work closely with Purchasing, Sales, Quality and Logistics teams.
- Ensure all trading activities comply with GDP, MHRA and company requirements.
- Maintain accurate CRM and trading records.
- Achieve individual sales, margin and growth targets.
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience within pharmaceutical trading, generics procurement, pharmaceutical sales or healthcare distribution.
- Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
- Excellent relationship-building and communication abilities.
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, target-driven environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
Desirable
- Existing network of pharmaceutical suppliers or customers.
- Experience within a pharmaceutical wholesaler.
- Understanding of UK pharmaceutical supply chains and pricing.
- Knowledge of MHRA GDP requirements.
